Your body is supposed to be motile and constantly moving. People now a days have become more and more sedentary. Sitting all the time in one place can rob you off energy and make you feel tired. Ayurveda suggests moving every now and then and not sitting in one place constantly. Engage yourself in physical activity like yoga to boost up your energy levels.
ABHYANGA
Energy can be awakened and boosted through a self-massage, known in Ayurveda as ‘Abhyanga’. Self massaging can release hidden stores of energy and vitality. This massage traditionally is performed by using herbal oil on the entire body including face, feet, palms and head. As you massage, your body releases health promoting and energy boosting chemicals that increases blood circulation and increases alertness.
HEALTHY DIET
In Ayurveda, agni- meaning fire plays such a central role in our overall vitality. It is responsible for improving our energy levels inside out. Avoid eating on the go, or while distracted by intense conversations, television, or multi-tasking. Always eat with peace of mind, focus and in a comfortable manner. Chew slowly and thoroughly. Eating food with due gratitude can make digestion smooth and healthy and thereby give keep your energy levels elevated.
CLEANSE
A dietary cleanse is an effective way to reset the agni and boost optimum energy levels. By detoxing, you help tissue rejuvenation by supporting agni throughout the body. According to Ayurveda, you can cleanse by fasting once every 2-3 weeks and also by following the master cleanse diet by consuming pepper lemonade for a week once every 6 months. When you cleanse this way, agni can concentrate on elevating energy levels throughout the body and repairing the tissues and not getting distracted by invading harmful toxins.
BUILDING OJAS
In Ayurveda, the best way to boost agni or energy is to build ojas. Ojas is said to build energy, vitality, immunity and radiant complexion. Ojas can be built by consuming ashwagandha and shatavari. Ojas can also be boosted by loving and caring and by releasing the hormone oxytocin. Oxytocin is the bonding hormone that is secreted by the mother, the baby and even the dad during childbirth.
GIVE YOUR BODY PROPER HYDRATION
Our body contains 60-80% of water. Adequate water is essential for delivering energy to the cells. It is essential to consume warm water and not cold to avoid disruption of the doshas. Sip hot water throughout the day and drink half of your body weight in ounces.
CONSUME ENERGY BOOSTING FOODS
Consuming energy boosting foods or agni boosting foods is the best and quicker way to boost energy. The best foods for boosting energy is nuts and nuts butters, sesame seeds, vegetables like kale, spinach, carrots etc. Also, fats like coconut oil, olive oil and ghee boosts energy in the body. Consuming complex carbs like oats, barley, quoina etc. too can stimulate agni and boost energy levels.
